A short while ago Microsoft announced a new imaging technology called “Photosynth” . Its been developed in collaboration with the University of Washington. This application will turn photographs into 3D effect. I’ve found a preview of it which will give an idea of how its going to perform. http://labs.live.com/photosynth/
The software will analyse photographs and look for similarities to understand how the contents of the picture relates to another, i.e. next to it, in front etc. The purpose is to create a new way of looking at photos.
There’s a technical preview at the site which sets out the system requirements. I imagine those who are serious photographers or playing with images will have a blast with this.
